In our latest Meet the Expert, we sat down with the newest member of our team, Rhys Ward.

Q: When and how did you join William Smith Group 1832?

Rhys: I started at William Smith back in September 2019, working as part of the distribution warehouse team. It was an ideal fit for me as I lived locally, and I've always been aware of the company's reputation within the local community.

Q: Can you explain what your new role at Smith is?

Rhys: Sure! I'm Production Coordinator here at Smith. My role involves taking signage quotes and turning them into orders. I then keep a close eye on these orders as they go through the fabrication and sign-production stages. Additionally, I'm responsible for managing transport logistics, organising ROLLSROLLER installations and services, and making sure our customers are well taken care of.

Q: What does a typical day at Smith look like for you?

Rhys: A typical day in my shoes involves a bit of everything. I start by processing signage orders, then I'm in close contact with our fabrication and sign production teams to make sure everything runs smoothly. I also spend time speaking with customers about their orders, both pending and delivered. And of course, I make time for my essential Greggs pit stop on my lunch!

Q: What is the most challenging aspect of your new role so far?

Rhys: The most challenging aspect, without a doubt, is handling the logistics of transporting orders. We have a wide-reaching customer base, and with the sheer volume of orders we handle, coordinating the deliveries can be quite the puzzle to solve at times.

Q: What do you believe differentiates Smith from other trade manufacturers?

Q: For those who don't know you outside of the workplace, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Rhys: I spend most of my time just hanging out with friends, going out for food, exploring the stunning Lake District, and travelling!
